Welcome to Monggo Kerso, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Banyuwangi, Indonesia. This charming country food restaurant offers a delightful fusion of traditional Indonesian cuisine set against the picturesque backdrop of lush padi terraces. You'll find it at Jl. Jambesari No.02, Dusun Langring, Jambesari, Kec. Giri, Kabupaten Banyuwangi, Jawa Timur 68425, where the serene landscape promotes a peaceful dining escape.

The essence of Monggo Kerso lies not just in the food but in the atmosphere it creates. As you step into this magical space, you're greeted with traditional architecture, complete with classic ornaments and furniture that pay homage to Indonesia's rich cultural heritage. It's this lovely setting, paired with an open view of the rice fields and cool mountain air, that makes every meal feel special. Choose between outdoor seating for a true al-fresco experience or a semi-outdoor option under a rooftop to enjoy the gentle breeze while you dine.

As for the menu, Monggo Kerso proudly offers a variety of local dishes meant to tantalize your taste buds. Many visitors rave about the Pepes, a traditional Indonesian dish where fish and spices are wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, resulting in flavors that are both rich and fragrant. The prasmanan style buffet allows you to sample a range of dishes at an affordable price, appealing to both budget-conscious diners and those looking for a delightful culinary experience.

The vibe at Monggo Kerso resonates with the relaxed charm reminiscent of Ubud, making it a great spot for both leisurely lunches and special family gatherings. Visitor Baron Purwono describes it as a "nice place to see real padi terrace fields," while Elsa P appreciated the chill atmosphere and variety of dining options available. Even those who might have found the food flavors a touch lacking like Ellysa Tria, acknowledged the overall pleasant experience and the restaurant's cleanliness, underscoring the friendly service from an attentive staff.

However, it is the journey to Monggo Kerso that adds a layer of adventure to the experience. Although it may require a bit of effort to reach – a 15 km ride towards the mountains – the scenic drive is well worth it, as noted by Chrysilla Helsa, who emphasized that the stunning open rice field view made her lunch experience unforgettable.

In conclusion, if you're seeking an authentic taste of Indonesia in a serene and picturesque setting, look no further than Monggo Kerso. With its tantalizing dishes, stunning views, and charming ambiance, it's more than just a meal — it's an experience waiting to be savored. So why not visit Monggo Kerso and immerse yourself in the heart of Banyuwangi’s culinary landscape?

Nice place to see real padi terrace field in Banyuwangi, with traditional building, old classic ornament and furniture, and food was okay, the only good things was Pepes I think,

Chill vibe. Somehow it reminds me of ubud. You can eat prasmanan way. Affordable price.

Tried Monggo Kerso since it was recommended by the homestay's host. She said it wasn't far but it reality, i had to ride a scooter around 15kms to the mountain direction to reach this place It was all worth it tho Monggo Kerson provides open rice field view with cool weather, very nice place to enjoy lunch (or anything). You could choose outdoor (open air) or semi-outdoor (with rooftop) seating. Food is nice, the guests could choose full course menu (40k for vegetables, protein, desert drink) or ala carte. I chose Nasi Campur Bali. It was satisfying and totally worth the price! Will definitely come for the second time here again.
